2024 Hyundai Alcazar Launched In India At ₹ 14.99 Lakh: Price, Specs, Features
Hyundai India has launched an updated avatar of its 7-seater SUV - Alcazar. The Creta-based 3-row SUV was long due for a mid-cycle refresh. The 2024 Hyundai Alcazar facelift is launched at a special introductory starting price of ₹ 14.99 lakh for petrol variants and ₹ 15.99 lakh for diesel variants. It will continue to take on its existing set of rivals - Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector, Citroen C3 Aircross, Kia Carens and more. In the last few months, the Alcazar has been a dull seller. The update, however, is expected to add some more numbers to the SUV's monthly sales tally.
The 2024 Hyundai Alcazar isn't just a stretched-out Creta, in terms of its looks. It opts for a bold-looking design theme, comprising of a rather butch-looking front facet with H-shaped connected LED DRLs, a large radiator grille, and a wide scuff plate.
Around the sides, the big change is the addition of new 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, bigger rear quarter windows, black-painted cladding, and bridge-type roof rails. The rear face of the Alcazar is also heavily tweaked with the use of a new spoiler, a reworked bumper, and a fresh design for the skid plate. It also gets connected LED taillamps with sequential turn indicators.
As for the dimensions, the Alcazar is 4,560 mm in length, 1,800 mm wide, and 1,710 mm tall. In comparison to the outgoing model, the 2024 Alcazar is 60 mm longer, 10 mm wider, and 35 mm taller. The wheelbase remains unaltered at 2,760 mm.
On the inside, the big change on the 2024 Hyundai Alcazar is a new dashboard layout, which is borrowed from the facelifted Creta. The cabin is now upholstered in new shades - noble brown and haze navy. The dual-tone treatment gives a premium appeal to the overall cabin.
Besides, the 6-seater variant now features ventilated second-row seats with folding armrests, which improve the accessibility to the third-row. Unique thigh extenders are a key highlight of the Alcazar's interior.
The bold new Hyundai Alcazar will be offered in 9 colours with 8 mono-tone options including the new Robust Emerald Matte, Titan Grey Matte, Robust Emerald, Starry Night, Ranger Khakhi, Fiery Red, Abyss Black, Atlas White, and 1 dual-tone colour option available in Atlas White with Black Roof.

Nifty Auto plummets nearly 3% as M&M, Tata Motors fall sharply; Maruti Suzuki hits new record high
The Nifty Auto index fell nearly 3% in intraday trading, hitting 25,094 points, driven down by Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M). This marked the index's largest intraday drop since June 04. By 1:30 p.m., the index had recovered some losses but was still down 2%, trading at 25,307 points.
Shares of M&M dropped nearly 8% to ₹2,697 apiece, the lowest level since June 07. M&M alone accounted for nearly 80% of the index's drop today.
This sharp decline followed the company's announcement of a temporary price cut of up to ₹2 lakh for its top XUV700 variant, the XUV700 AX7. The new pricing, introduced ahead of the XUV700's third anniversary, will be effective for four months starting July 10. In addition to M&M, Tata Motors has also implemented price cuts on its SUVs, the Harrier and Safari, effective until July 31. Analysts interpret these price reductions by major players as signs of weakened demand in the segment, attributing this trend to reduced inquiries and postponed vehicle purchases, exacerbated by extreme heat waves affecting consumer behavior. Shares of Tata Motors also fell 2.85% in today's trade.
Other top losers in the index included Exide Industries, which fell by 5% to ₹549 apiece. After reaching an all-time high of ₹620 on June 25, the stock has faced profit booking, leading to a 12% decline to date. Meanwhile, shares of Samvardhana Motherson International, Apollo Tyres, Hero MotoCorp, Bosch, Ashok Leyland, MRF, Balkrishna Industries, Bharat Forge, and Bajaj Auto are currently trading with losses ranging from 0.3% to 2%.
On the gainers' side, Maruti Suzuki continued its strong momentum for the second consecutive trading session, reaching a new all-time high of ₹13,299 apiece with a nearly 4% gain.

The Mahindra XUV700, a feature-packed and powerful SUV that has taken the Indian market by storm, has just welcomed a new member to its lineup: the AX5 Select variant. This mid-spec trim bridges the gap between the AX3 and AX5 trims, offering a compelling combination of desirable features and a competitive price tag. Let's delve deeper into what the AX5 Select brings to the table for those seeking a feature-rich 7-seater SUV without breaking the bank. Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Hitting the Sweet Spot: The AX5 Select's Value Proposition The AX5 Select caters to those who prioritize a 7-seater layout and appreciate features that enhance comfort and convenience, but don't necessarily require all the bells and whistles of the higher-end AX5 trim. This strategic placement allows Mahindra to capture a wider audience while maintaining a tiered pricing structure within the XUV700 range. Affordability with Essential Features: Price Advantage: The AX5 Select variants come in significantly cheaper compared to their corresponding AX5 counterparts. This price difference can range from Rs 1.30 lakh to Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India), making the AX5 Select a more attractive option for budget-conscious buyers. Essential Features on Board: Despite the lower price point, the AX5 Select doesn't skimp on essential features. It boasts a panoramic sunroof, a luxurious touch typically found in higher-end vehicles. The dual 10.25-inch screen setup, featuring an infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster, provides a modern and user-friendly experience. Additionally, wireless connectivity, Alexa voice assistant integration, and push-button start/stop add to the convenience factor. Safety Focus: Safety remains a priority with dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, and rear parking sensors included as standard equipment. A Closer Look at Features: What You Get and What You Don't While the AX5 Select offers a compelling value proposition, there are some feature differentiators compared to the AX5 trim. Here's a breakdown: Features Included in the AX5 Select: Panoramic sunroof Dual 10.25-inch screens (infotainment and instrument cluster) Wireless connectivity Alexa voice assistant Push-button start/stop Dual front airbags ISOFIX child seat anchorages Rear parking sensors Features Missing in the AX5 Select (compared to AX5): LED headlights with LED DRLs and cornering functionality Dual-tone alloy wheels Fog lamps Cruise control Reversing camera Curtain airbags For some buyers, features like LED headlights, cruise control, and a reversing camera might be deal-breakers. However, the AX5 Select offers a chance to own a feature-rich 7-seater XUV700 at a more accessible price point, and these missing features can be weighed against the significant cost savings. Powertrain Options: Unaltered Performance The AX5 Select retains the same engine and transmission options as the rest of the XUV700 lineup. Here's a quick overview: 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine: This engine produces a healthy 200 PS of power and 380 Nm of torque, delivering a spirited driving experience. 2.2-liter diesel engine: Available in two states of tune – 156 PS and 360 Nm, or 185 PS and 450 Nm – the diesel engine caters to those seeking strong pulling power and excellent fuel efficiency. Transmission options: Both engines come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, with the option of a 6-speed automatic transmission for added convenience. It's important to note that the all-wheel-drive (AWD) system remains exclusive to the top-spec AX7 and AX7 L trims, even for the diesel automatic variant in the AX5 Select. The XUV700's Competitive Landscape: Who are the Rivals? The Mahindra XUV700 faces stiff competition in the Indian SUV market. Here's a look at its key rivals: MG Hector Plus: The feature-packed Hector Plus offers a comfortable cabin, a long list of features, and a competitive price tag, making it a strong contender in the 7-seater segment. Tata Safari: A well-established player, the Safari boasts a spacious cabin, a powerful diesel engine, and a comfortable ride, attracting buyers seeking a traditional SUV experience. Frequently Asked Questions: Q: Is the AX5 Select available in a 5-seater configuration? A: No, the AX5 Select is exclusively offered in a 7-seater layout. If you're looking for a 5-seater option within the XUV700 range, you'll need to consider the lower AX trims. Q: Does the AX5 Select offer any additional customization options? A: While Mahindra doesn't offer extensive customization options for the AX5 Select, there might be some flexibility with official dealership accessories. It's best to check with your nearest Mahindra dealership to explore available options. Q: What is the fuel efficiency of the AX5 Select variants? A: Mahindra hasn't released official fuel efficiency figures for the AX5 Select variants yet. However, they are expected to be similar to the corresponding figures for the existing AX3 and AX5 trims with the same engine and transmission options. Q: Where can I learn more about the AX5 Select or schedule a test drive? A: You can visit the official Mahindra website or contact your nearest authorized Mahindra dealership. The dealership staff can provide you with detailed information about the AX5 Select, answer any questions you might have, and help you schedule a test drive to experience the SUV firsthand.

Everyone Is Talking About The Mahindra XUV700 Makes
We simply loved this article by Kabelo Chabalala about the Mahindta XUV700 for sale - a new-age luxury SUV available in South Africa.
On two occasions, the Mahindra XUV700 almost gave me a heart attack.
The first instance involved parking in the underground parking at the Mall@Reds in Centurion for a quick supermarket dash. Upon my return, five car guards were surrounding the car, frantically looking for something. I was alarmed! And paranoid that someone had bumped the car.
The real reason was far more innocent.
About 10 metres from the car, I took out the car key to unlock it. This was to signal to them that I was approaching, but instead of them moving away from the car, at the sight of the pop-up door handles, they lost their cool and started screaming. They were in total awe. The top-of-the-range 2.0T AX7 L finished in its signature Electric Blue hue had them losing their minds. In unison, they all asked, “Which brand is this beautiful car? We circled the car trying to find the name with no luck. We also don’t recognise the logo”.
In the second incident, I had taken the car for a wash around Centurion. As I sat at a restaurant across the car wash, I watched a man, probably in his late 40s or early 50s, walking straight to the bay where they were vacuuming the car, to inquire about it.
He circled the car three times while I watched from a distance.
Luckily, I had told the ladies and gentlemen at the car wash where I would be, and one of them came to me to ask about the car and confirm the brand name.
It dawned on me that either the carmaker did not make enough noise about the new Mahindra SUV logo, or people are simply ignorant. Nevertheless, the new logo debuted on the XUV700, which explains why a lot of people did know that it is the new Mahindra logo, specifically for their Sport Utility Vehicle range.
This particular change was inspired by the brand’s belief that as a driver of one of their SUVs, you can go where you want, when you want, in complete style. And style was not in short supply when it came to the XUV700. The biggest talking point of this car for me is the price the XUV700 is for sale at, which is no more than R560,000 for the top-of-the-range variant, AX7 L, which I drove.
It comes in three offerings - the mid-specced AX7, which will make your pocket less rich at just over R500,000, and the AX5 base model, which is priced at around R480,000.
Anyone with a big family will be happy with this price tag. And it is not a lazy car.
When you get on the open road, with all three powered by a 2.0-Litre turbo petrol engine, the acceleration to the legal maximum speed of 120km/h makes you appreciate the 149kW and 380Nm it produces. It is a front-wheeler with a six-speed automatic gearbox.
With its big size, I found myself wishing for a moment it was an all-wheel drive, but I quickly remembered that this car was for comfort, proving it is indeed targeting family-oriented customers. I am willing to bet that, had I kept that car for one more week, there would have been even more drama surrounding it, from the church parking lot to our garage.

The mid-size SUV segment in India is brimming with exciting options. For car buyers seeking a spacious and feature-rich SUV priced under Rs 15 lakh, the MG Hector and Mahindra XUV700 emerge as strong contenders, particularly after a recent price adjustment for the Hector. This has brought the base-spec petrol variant of the Hector into direct competition with the Mahindra XUV700 MX 5-seater variant. But which one offers better value for your money? Let's delve into a detailed comparison to help you make an informed decision. Going Head-to-Head: Price and Dimensions Both the MG Hector Style (petrol) and Mahindra XUV700 MX (petrol) share an identical starting price of Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This price parity makes the choice even more intriguing. However, dimensions play a role in terms of overall space and road presence. The Mahindra XUV700 takes the lead here with a marginally larger footprint. It stretches 40 mm longer and 55 mm wider compared to the base-spec Hector Style. It's worth noting that the length mentioned for the Hector applies only to the Style variant. Higher trims of the Hector boast a length of 4,699 mm. In terms of height, the Hector gains a slight edge, standing 5 mm taller than the XUV700. Interestingly, both SUVs share an identical wheelbase of 2750 mm. Powertrain: A Clear Advantage for the XUV700 While both SUVs boast turbocharged petrol engines, the Mahindra XUV700 holds a significant advantage under the hood. It packs a bigger 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine that generates a healthier 200 PS of power and 380 Nm of torque. This stands in stark contrast to the MG Hector Style's 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine, which delivers 143 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. The XUV700's engine translates to a more powerful driving experience, especially when dealing with highway cruising or navigating demanding terrains. Both SUVs come equipped with 6-speed manual transmissions in their base-spec variants. Automatic transmission options are available in higher trims, but not within the scope of this price comparison. Feature Rundown: Balancing Essentials and Convenience Moving to features, both SUVs offer a decent array of essentials in their base-spec trims. Here's a breakdown of the key highlights: Exterior Features MG Hector Style: Halogen projector headlights with LED DRLs, semi-LED tail lights, turn indicator on ORVMs, shark-fin antenna, roof rails, 17-inch steel wheels with wheel covers. Mahindra XUV700 MX: Halogen headlights with follow-me-home function, LED tail lights, roof antenna, turn indicator on ORVMs, flush-type door handles, 17-inch steel wheels. While the Hector offers projector headlights and DRLs, the XUV700 counters with a follow-me-home headlight function. Both SUVs miss out on features like alloy wheels and LED headlights in their base variants. Interior Features MG Hector Style: Fabric seat upholstery, height-adjustable driver's seat, rear armrest, front, and rear reading lights, height-adjustable headrests for all seats, 2nd-row seat recline. Mahindra XUV700 MX: Fabric seat upholstery, height-adjustable driver's seat, front and rear reading lights, height-adjustable headrests for all window seats. Both SUVs provide essential comfort features like a height-adjustable driver's seat and basic seat adjustments. The Hector adds a rear armrest and 2nd-row seat recline for enhanced passenger comfort on longer journeys. Comfort and Convenience Features MG Hector Style: Manual AC, rear AC vents, tilt adjustable steering wheel, driver armrest with storage, all four power windows with driver's side auto-down function, electrically adjustable ORVMs, rear defogger, rear wiper and washer, USB charging ports. Mahindra XUV700 MX: Manual AC, rear AC vents, tilt adjustable steering wheel, driver armrest with storage, all four power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs, steering mounted audio controls, Day/Night IRVM, USB charging ports. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Q: Which SUV offers better fuel efficiency, the MG Hector or the Mahindra XUV700? A: While official figures for the base-spec variants aren't available yet, the Hector's smaller 1.5L engine is likely to deliver better fuel efficiency compared to the XUV700's 2.0L engine. Q: Do the Hector Style and XUV700 MX offer automatic transmission options? A: No, not in their base-spec variants. Automatic transmission options are available in higher trims of both SUVs. Q: Is there a significant difference in maintenance costs between the Hector and XUV700? A: Maintenance costs can vary depending on driving habits and service center location. It's advisable to check with authorized service centers for both brands to get a precise idea. Q: Which SUV offers a more spacious cabin? A: Given the marginally larger dimensions of the XUV700, it might offer slightly more cabin space compared to the Hector Style. However, the difference is likely to be subtle.

The Time To Buy A Mahindra XUV500 SUV Is Now
Its production is slated to end soon and make way for its spiritual successor, the XUV700
Mahindra’s mid-size SUV, the XUV500, has been on sale for a decade now.
The current-gen XUV500 is being offered at great prices. So, if you’re looking to buy the XUV500, this could be your last chance as its production is likely to cease soon to make way for the upcoming XUV700 (the XUV500’s spiritual successor).
Is This the Best Time to Buy the XUV500?
If we consider the top-spec model, it can be availed at around under R500,000. This brings the SUV’s price much closer to those of the range-topping variants of the smaller compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta While the XUV500’s design has started feeling outdated compared to that of the Hyundai-Kia duo, it is still more spacious with a decent equipment list (save for a few misses including a panoramic sunroof and ventilated front seats). So if you can ignore these factors, the XUV500 certainly makes for a good value-for-money proposition.
While Mahindra will finally be discontinuing the ageing XUV500 for a brief period, the nameplate will be resurrected in the coming years, albeit as a 5-seater model rivalling the Hyundai Creta rival. Presently, it is a 7-seater SUV offered with a sole 2.2-litre diesel engine, developing 103Kw and 330Nm. It comes paired with a 6-speed manual or auto gearbox.
The XUV700, on the other hand, will come with Mahindra’s brand new engines that debuted with the Thar, although in a more powerful state of tune. Mahindra is expected to offer the SUV with both 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. A segment-first optional all-wheel drive (AWD) will also be available.
The XUV700 is likely to be launched at a possible price that is noticeably higher than the current XUV500’s price range.
